Prevent specific Log4J logging to appear in mendix application.log

Hi,

Since Mendix 4.4.0 log4j generated loglines automatically end up in the mendix application.log (Ticket 15647: Redirect Apache Commons Logging to Mendix Logging). How can we prevent this from happening (selectively). I tried using the log4j.properties file but it does not seem to impact the log entries (while it does when running from eclipse).
